SheetApps User Guide

Turn an Excel workbook (or Google Sheet) into a multi-user web app — forms, validation, lookups, import/export and more.

Your workspaceStart here

A workspace is your team's account on SheetApps — the top-level home that holds everything you build. When you sign up, you create one workspace, named for your company or team, and your plan, your people, your billing and all of your apps live inside it.

A helpful way to picture it: the workspace is the building, and each app is a room inside it. The workspace owns the things you share across everything — your subscription, your team and your settings — while each app is a single tool you use day to day.

A workspace brings these together in one place:

  • Your plan and limits — your subscription tier (Basic, Pro, Max or Enterprise) and the allowances that apply across all your apps: how many apps you can create, plus languages, forms per app and dashboards.
  • Your people — the members of the workspace and their roles (owner, admin, builder or member), managed in the Admin console → Users.
  • Billing and usage — your subscription, renewal date and the usage meters, all in the Admin console.
  • Shared settings — branding, regional and display defaults, and the languages your workspace supports — applied across the whole workspace.
  • Your apps — every app you build from a workbook, shown together on your My Apps home page.
  • Data safety — workspace-wide backups, the recycle bin and the audit log that protect everything inside it.

Workspace vs. app — the key difference. A workspace is the account; an app is one tool inside it. A single workspace can hold many apps, and they all share the workspace's plan, people and settings — but each app keeps its own forms and its own data, separate from every other app.

More than one workspace? Some plans let a single account run several workspaces — for example separate Dev, Staging and Production environments. Each workspace is fully independent, with its own apps, members and data. If your plan supports this, you switch between them with the workspace switcher.
Finding your way around: your current workspace's name is shown at the top of the app. Use the workspace switcher there to move between workspaces you belong to, and click the SheetApps logo any time to return to My Apps within the workspace you're in.

Your IDs. Every workspace has a permanent Workspace ID (for example WS-3F8N2RQ7YXBPQR) and every account a permanent Account ID (for example ACC-7H2KQ9PX4M3V8N). Unlike your workspace name or email — which you can change — these never change, so they reliably identify your workspace and account.

Where to find them: open Settings → Your IDs to see and copy your Account ID and current Workspace ID; admins also see them at the top of the Admin console. Quote these when you contact support so we can find your workspace straight away.
